REACH
Reach is the statue at the front of the building, and it represents what we are about as an Academy. This means that we encourage all our students to reach for their goals and dreams. We want you to take up all the opportunities at the Academy, so you can experience new adventures and be excited about your future. The REACH motto is: To REACH, is to believe and to achieve my full potential.
Epraise
Epraise is a great new electronic way to collect points for achieving positive REACH points – and points mean prizes!! REACH points are available to all students, and this means you can work towards obtaining as many REACH points as possible. REACH points are really valuable, and you will be encouraged to achieve as many REACH points as you can.
Lockers
Lockers are a great place to keep your belongings throughout the Academy day. Lockers are available to all students and your parents or carers can pay for these when you choose to join us in September via ParentPay – it’s very easy! There are lockers all over the Academy so don’t worry there are enough for all students to have one. Lockers will be located in your Mini School, so you will find out where your locker is when you join us in September.
Toilets
Toilets are mixed (shared) at Brompton Academy and students and staff use the same toilets. You can use the toilets before school, during break and lunch times and in between lessons. If you needed to use the toilet during a lesson, then you would need to ask permission as we don’t allow students out of lessons to use the toilets. Sometimes students might need to use the toilet for medical reasons and that’s ok, we provide you with a pass to leave your lessons discreetly.
Break times
You will have one break time in the morning, and this is where you can grab a snack, see friends, go outside for some fresh air, visit the refectory for some tasty treats or go to the library. If it is raining, then there are plenty of covered spaces outside for you to find shelter or you are welcome to come inside the building.
Lunch times
You will have a lunch time every day for 30 minutes and this can be spent inside or outside. We have plenty of seating available for you to find somewhere to sit to enjoy your lunch. You are allowed to sit outside with cold food and a packed lunch but if you have hot food that you have bought from the Refectory then you will be asked to sit inside. You can have packed lunches or pay for hot food. We don’t use any money to purchase food we use something a bit different and much easier – it’s called ParentPay.
Money for lunches
ParentPay is an online way for your parents/carers to put money into your Academy account so you can pay for food and drinks without having to have any cash with you, so it’s very safe and easy as you can’t lose your break or lunch money. If by chance they forget to put money into your ParentPay account, then you can bring some money to the Academy and put the money onto your account by using the easy cash loaders that are based on the walls in the Refectory. If you are worried about using ParentPay or the cash loaders – don’t worry, there are always lots of lunch time supervisors around to help you.
Clubs
Clubs are ace at Brompton Academy, and you can attend lots of clubs for free! We also have an Electives programme which is really cool and just open to Year 7 students. Electives run from Term 2 to Term 5 and include activities such as horse riding, jewellery making, manga art, cupcake making. You can find out about clubs via the website or notice boards around the Academy. Electives are easy to access as we send you a link and you can sign up online.
Library
The Library is a quiet working space that is available during break and lunch times. The books in the Library are free to loan and you can borrow books or audio books. The Library is a great place to read, relax, enjoy lessons (some lessons are delivered in the library) and you get to meet the awesome and friendly Librarian, Mrs Baker Moss.
First Aid
We have lots of staff who are trained as first aiders so don’t worry if you have an accident, we are ready to help you and make sure you are ok to return to lessons or if there is a problem then we will contact your parents or carers double quick.
Feeling unwell
If you are feeling unwell and need some help, then we have a Pastoral Team who are available to support you. You might be feeling a bit worried or scared but it’s ok we are all here to make sure you are ok, and you feel safe.
Bullying
If you are worried about other students being unkind or bullying you or even bullying others then please don’t worry because we have lots of staff who are trained to help you. Bullying is not ok, and we will not accept children bullying each other so we have lots of different ways that you can tell us if you are feeling unhappy or scared. You can speak to a member of staff in person, you can use an app on your iPad, you can email a member of staff too. We know how worried students can be about bullying so we take this seriously.
